Successful piano trios continue to emerge and when someone like Pescara-born Claudio Filippini comes along with his trio, it quickly becomes clear that there is still a great deal of wonderfully imaginative music to be made. The same applies to repertoire. Jazz is a music of infinite variety, and Claudio Filippini continues to find fresh directions within it. (Brian Morton)
