Critically acclaimed lo-fi hip hop musician Powfu is thrilled to release his new pop infused track “walk on wine” with Cody Lawless & Milkshakes In The Valley ahead of his forthcoming album Gathered by the Lantern, out October 6th with a confirmed feature in Clash.
This song follows the album's first single "no balls" that was released on September 8th.
Two Squids (Powfu & Cody Lawless), from a beautiful & mountainous valley of Vancouver, Canada, wanted to make an indie pop duo. As they were sipping on milkshakes at the local 50s diner, they came up with the name Milkshakes In The Valley.
Making their debut release as the duo with “walk on wine”, the boys say the pop anthem is about “the tiresome search for a bad girl with an innocent mind”. Starting the song with an infectious whistling hook, which leads to Cody's dreamy vocals and into Powfu’s classic polished sound, this song is an exciting new pop/ indie chapter for them both. This track is the second single off of Powfu’s anticipated album, Gathered By The Lantern.
The new album shares the name of Powfu’s upcoming ‘Gathered by the Lantern’ European tour. This tour will mark Powfu’s live debut in Europe, with stops in London, Munich (SOLD OUT), Amsterdam (VENUE UPGRADED), Paris (SOLD OUT) and several more (see tour dates below). In continued support of his new music, Powfu will be playing a SOLD OUT show in Los Angeles, CA at The Echo on November 12 in collaboration with skate brand, ERASED.
After several years contributing to the lo-fi hip-hop scene on YouTube, Powfu emerged from a small town outside of Vancouver, Canada, and established himself as a key player in bringing the lo-fi genre into the mainstream. His breakout hit “death bed (coffee for your head)” featuring beabadoobee took over the globe in 2020 and fueled Powfu to become one of the only Canadian artists to have a song reach 1 billion streams on Spotify. The song has gone platinum in 29 countries including the USA (5x) and Canada (5x). To date, the 24-year-old artist (born Isaiah Faber) has amassed over 4 billion worldwide streams and 900M video views across his vast catalog of 11 EPs and 1 album. Along the way, he has collaborated with many incredible artists such as Travis Barker, Blink-182, Jaden Smith, PinkPantheress, Alec Benjamin, DVBBS, Rxseboy, MAY-A, guccihighwaters and more. His constant stream of new releases show Powfu’s evolution while still staying true to his signature sound, melodious versatility, and relatable lyricism.
